FAQ

What's the maximum file size I can upload?
Files have been tested up to 100GB. Note that the browser has an individual file upload size limit of 2GB. You can upload individual files larger than this by using an ownCloud client or webDAV.

How much space do I have?
Currently, a 100GB quota is provided free of charge for Researchers. Your account quota is visible on your Personaltab.

How do I get more space?
Applications for larger quotas may be made through your institutional help desk, with charges likely to apply.

Why set a different password for webdav and the desktop and mobile clients?
Cloudstor+ provides web access using AAF authentication, and has no visibility on your institutional credentials - i.e. it doesn't know what your password is, and neither it should. Currently the clients and/or webdav can not authenicate via the AAF, so Cloudstor+ needs you to set an alternate password to authenticate your access when using them.

Note: when you set this password it is only for use with the clients and webdav. It does not change your institutional login credentials when logging in via the web interface.

Where are all the other ownCloud functions apart from "Files"?
AARNet have released Cloudstor+ with the simple primary purpose of providing the fastest possible file transfer capability. Other functionality may be added over time.

Where is my data being held?
All Cloudstor+ data files are held on servers in Australia, directly connected to the AARNet backbone network

How can I be sure my data is safe?
AARNet is not backing-up the data stored in the system, however it is stored in a geographically distributed file system. The system builds on the infrastructure used for AARNet's Mirror and CloudStor services, which have very high reliability and availability. AARNet monitors all its systems on a 24x7 basis.

What happens to my data when I leave my university?
Your login permissions are granted by your institution - once they are terminated your data will be not be deleted but you will no longer have access to it. If you are moving to a new institution that is also federated with the AAF, you should contact your institutional help desk to discuss options for transferring your account data.cs1.png
